The Erasmus Mundus Green IT project: Mobility and Overview of the Higher Education System in 5 Partner Countries of North Africa. 2012-2016.

Abstract

Among other aspects, the University of Vigo’s internationalisation strategy seeks to establish new mobility agreements from a strategic perspective driven by excellence, reinforcing the existing structure of mobility to permeate the complete university community. For this, actions in this field are aimed at fostering institutional visits and participation in events, at increasing the number of individuals participating in mobility programs, at improving the expertise and qualification of local coordinators of international relations, and at increasing the linguistic competence of lecturers, researchers, students and staff. GreenIT dramatically contributed to pursue these objectives, as it established the foundations of a solid partnership with relevant universities in Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia and Egypt, and also helped to reinforce existing collaborations with some of our most relevant partners in Europe. This contributed to increase the international presence and prestige of our university, and also that of our partners, through the integration in an international university network, the participation in academic events of international relevance, the deployment of a network of students, lecturers and staff, and the development of innovative instruments for promoting learning in a multicultural environment. Note that cultural diversity is a mutually enriching aspect of interaction, which has many practical implications on internationalisation.
