TRANSMISIÓN DE MODELOS, OBRAS Y ARTISTAS ENTRE ANDALUCÍA ORIENTAL Y AMÉRICA (1550-1660)

Abstract

Tesis doctoral en la que se analiza como el modelo de la catedral de Jaén iniciado por Andrés de Vandelvira en 1550, continuado fielmente a lo largo de más de doscientos años por los arquitectos que le siguieron, y gracias al apoyo de los diferentes obispos, supone la culminación del modo hispánico y también del tipo canónico de basílica ideal descrito en el Manuscrito Anónimo de Arquitectura que se encuentra en la Biblioteca Nacional de España. Debido a esto, en América, obispos, virreyes y arquitectos miraron hacia la seo giennense a la hora de construir las catedrales del Nuevo Mundo, apostando en la mayoría de las ocasiones por esta forma constructiva, aunque adaptándola a las necesidades del territorio y añadiendo características propias, con lo que se crearía un nuevo tipo directamente derivado del iniciado en Jaén.
