4th URV Doctoral Workshop in Computer Science and Mathematicsautores, VariosThis book of proceedings gathers the contributions presented at the 4th URV Doctoral Workshop in Computer Science and Mathematics. After the successful previous editions in 2014, 2015 and 2016 the fourth edition was held in Tarragona (Catalonia, Spain) on November 16th, 2017. It was jointly organized by the Security and Privacy research group (CRISES) and the Doctoral Program on Computer Science and Mathematics of Security of Universitat Rovira i Virgili (URV), which celebrates its 10th anniversary this year. The main aim of this workshop is to promote the dissemination of the ideas, methods and results that are developed in the Doctoral Thesis of the students of this doctorate program, and to promote the knowledge sharing, collaboration and discussion between their respective research groups.- 2a Jornada de Recerca en Enologia i Viticultura a Catalunyaautores, VariosTots els investigadors de Catalunya relacionats amb l'àmbit de l'enologia i la viticultura, des d'un punt de vista molt ample, han estat convidats a la Jornada per presentar els seus treballs en forma de pòsters. La multiplicitat d'àmbits de coneixement que tenen que veure directament o indirectament amb el vi i la vinya queda reflectida amb aquesta recerca de qualitat que s hi fa, i amb això veiem treballs de temes tan diversos que inclouen fins i tot l'arqueologia, l'economia o la salut humana.
- La postveritat i la manca de reflexió, una nova realitat del segle XXI?Les societats actuals estem immerses en una era de transformacions profundes a escala mundial. En aquest panorama canviant i accelerat, la imaginació sociològica, en el sentit de Wright Mills, és imprescindible. La teoria i recerca sociològiques són l'eina clau per a la comprensió dels processos socials i la mirada crítica de les nostres societats. Els últims anys han estat marcats per una sèrie de canvis inesperats i de successives crisis que ens plantegen nous reptes. La societat catalana forma part d'aquesta globalitat i d'aquestes transformacions i no és aliena a aquests canvis, ans al contrari, ha constituït un panorama social i polític que esdevé de gran interès per a la comunitat internacional, científica i social. La sociologia pot ajudar a explicar, entendre i encarar aquests reptes i interrogants socials que tenim al davant, tant a nivell global com local, a través de la seva reflexió, mètode i anàlisis especialitzades. El VII Congrés Català de Sociologia pretén ser un punt de trobada per als investigador/es dels diferents àmbits de recerca del nostre país. Us convidem a participar en el congrés presentant les vostres recerques actuals i participar en el debat i reflexió conjunta en el marc d'aquestes jornades. Els interessats podeu enviar propostes de comunicacions sobre qüestions vinculades a la recerca sociològica.
- El cristianisme en l'Antiguitat Tardana. Noves perspectivesautores, VariosDes de l'any 2012 les diferents institucions implicades en la tutela i la recerca arqueològica del patrimoni monumental romà de Tarragona realitzen les reunions Tarraco Biennal. L'any 2018 es va decidir organitzar conjuntamenta la nostra ciutat la VII Reunió d’Arqueologia Cristiana Hispànica fent-la coincidir amb el IV Congrés Internacional d'Arqueologia i Món Antic Tarraco Biennal que va tenir lloc a la Universitat Rovira i Virgili al novembre de 2018.
- Finding Solutions to Societal Problems: 2nd International Virtual SBRlab ConferenceTorres-Coronas, Teresa; Belzunegui-Eraso, Angel; Moreno-Gené, JosepSince 2007 and the economic meltdown caused by the financial crisis, the world faces huge challenges. In Europe, the 2017 Eurobarometer highlights some of the European citizens’ concerns. A majority of respondents think that the life of today’s children will be more difficult than the life of those from their own generation. At the same time, reducing inequality and social exclusion, protecting the environment, progress and innovation, harmonizing education and social welfare systems and migration policies are some of the issues Europe should address by 2030. Unfortunately, this is not a perfect world. For that reason new ideas, strategies and interdisciplinary research are needed for overcoming all these problems. Conducting research based on of qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods designs, researchers from a wide range of disciplines have been looking for solutions. Now it is time make a side stop on the way and to gather results. The 2nd International SBRLab Conference, Finding solutions to societal problems, is organized by the Social and Business Research Lab (SBRLab), Universitat Rovira i Virgili. It is as an international and virtual meeting point of interdisciplinary research and researchers. Its main purpose is to bring together researchers from management, economics, political, social and legal disciplines in order to present and discuss new trends in their respective fields.
- Nuevas tendencias en microbiología de alimentosBordons, Albert; Bautista-Gallego, Joaquín; Portillo, M. Carmen; Mas, AlbertEn este volumen se quiere dar a conocer los últimos avances y las nuevas tendencias en las diversas temáticas en el ámbito de Microbiología de los Alimentos. En él se consideran tanto los aspectos de los beneficios de los microorganismos, o sea, los implicados en procesos fermentativos de alimentos, o por supuesto los probióticos y otros microorganismos relacionados con alimentos funcionales, como los aspectos negativos de los microorganismos relacionados con seguridad alimentaria, incluyendo las técnicas más recientes y la microbiología predictiva. También se tratan aspectos quizás no tan contemplados antes, como las interrelaciones entre los diversos microorganismos presentes en los alimentos, o una sesión dedicada a la microbiología de alimentos de origen marino.

- 2nd Iberian Meeting on Aerosol Science and Technology: Proceedings Book RICTA 2014autores, VariosThis Proceedings Book collects the conference articles and abstracts presented at RICTA 2014, the 2nd Iberian Meeting on Aerosol Science and Technology (also named Reunión Ibérica de Ciencia y Tecnología de los Aerosoles), held during July 7-9, 2014, in Tarragona, Spain. RICTA 2014 is the second Portuguese-Spanish meeting on Aerosol Science and Technology. Like the previous RICTA congress held in 2013 in Évora, Portugal, RICTA 2014 is the continuation of the successful RECTA, Reunión Española de Ciencia y Tecnología de Aerosoles, conferences, which have been held in Spain since 2007. RICTA 2014 has been organized by the Droplets, intErfaces, and floWs (DEW) Research Laboratory of the Universitat Rovira i Virgili, with the collaboration of the Asociación Española de Ciencia y Tecnología de los Aerosoles (AECyTA). The congress was held at the Campus Catalunya of the Universitat Rovira i Virgili. As in previous editions of RICTA and RECTA, the participation of young researchers has been encouraged, with the organization of the 5th Summer School on Aerosol Science and Technology, as well as awards for the best poster and PhD thesis. This book comprises three parts: the Conference Program, the Conference Articles, and the Conference Abstracts.
- Congrés Internacional 80 aniversari de la Guerra Civil Espanyola: Comunicacionsautores, VariosEn Noviembre de 2016, con motivo del 80 Aniversario del inicio de la Guerra Civil, el Centro de Estudios sobre Conflictos Sociales (CECOS) de la Universitat Rovira i Virgili (URV) de Tarragona, organizó un congreso científico y académico de alcance Internacional para analizar dicho conflicto bélico que marcó el devenir de España durante gran parte del siglo XX y tuvo que ver mucho también con el proceso vivido en Europa de enfrentamiento entre las dos grandes ideologías totalitarias como fueron el fascismo y el comunismo, así como con los intentos de salvaguardar un estado de derecho democrático que finalmente se instalaría en el continente hasta nuestros días.
