Diagnosis determines the nature and cause of various phenomena observed in cultural objects. The second part of the title -Before, During, After- refers to the research carried out at various stages during the conservation treatment and emphasizes the essential nature of these diagnoses. It brings together scientific contributions selected by the Scientific Committee from the various conferences organized by the International Scientific Society for Mediterranean Fortifications, FORTMED, under the editorial direction of Professor Pablo Rodríguez-Navarro. Since its inception in 2015, the collection has served as a platform for the dissemination of high-level research focused on the study, documentation, conservation, restoration, enhancement, and promotion of fortified heritage across the Mediterranean region. Since 2020, the collection has been co-published with EdUPV (Editorial Universitat Politècnica de València), a collaboration that has given decisive momentum to its consolidation as a high-quality, internationally recognized scientific publication.
