Proceedings of the international conference on Fortifications of the Mediterranean Coast FORTMED 2024. Defensive architecture of the mediterrenean. Vol. XVIIRodríguez Navarro, Pablo"Defensive Architecture of the Mediterranean" (volume XVI) is the continuation of a series of publications that highlight the latest research on the fortifications of the Mediterranean region. These contributions were gathered in the seventh edition of the international conference Fortifications of the Mediterranean Coast, FORTMED 2024, hosted by Universiteti Politeknik i Tiranës in Tirana, Albania on April 18, 19, and 20, 2024. The series 'Defensive Architecture of the Mediterranean' aims to share knowledge about the historical and current state of military architecture along the Mediterranean coast, including structures built overseas that are influenced by those in the Mediterranean. The conference and the 17 published volumes of the series have demonstrated to be the most persistent and serious effort in researching and documenting military architecture in the Mediterranean over the last decade. While fortresses and castles have always been recognized as vital components of historic built heritage, their strategic defensive role hasn't always been fully understood and explored. The study of military architecture, a multidisciplinary task, prompts a reassessment of this cultural environment, often neglected or at risk. From prehistoric fortification traces to contemporary bunkers and military infrastructures, the discourse on documenting and preserving military heritage welcomes and encourages contributions from diverse fields, including architecture, engineering, archaeology, history, geography, and cultural heritage. FORTMED, the international conference on the Fortifications of the Mediterranean Coast, has evolved into a research-based platform that transcends borders and centuries, delving into the strategic, historical, and cultural significance of fortifications along the Mediterranean coast. FORTMED has embraced diverse venues, ranging from Valencia to Florence, Alicante to Turin, and later to Granada, and finally to Pisa. These conferences have become synonymous with collaboration, knowledge exchange, and the exploration of multifaceted perspectives on defensive architecture. This initiative has turned into an intellectual odyssey, traversing the historical landscapes of the Mediterranean, exploring intricate fortifications that have shaped civilizations, and engaging with contemporary challenges in the preservation and restoration of architectural heritage.- FORTMED 2020. The Conference has been held in March 26th, 27th and 28th 2020 in Granada (Spain),at the Laboratory of Archaeology and Architecture of the City (Laboratorio de Arqueología y Arquitectura de la Ciudad, LAAC) of the School of Arabic Studies (Escuela de Estudios Árabes, EEA), a research centre that belongs to the Spanish National Research Council (Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas, CSIC). The main objective of FORTMED conferences is to exchange and share knowledge for a better understanding, assessment, management and exploitation of the built Cultural Heritage. The focus is on defensive architecture in the Mediterranean area, from the Antiquity to the present day, although it does not exclude other fortifications built overseas but high influenced by those on the Mediterranean.

X Congreso de innovación educativa y docencia en redGarcía Sabater, José Pedro; Cano Escribá, Juan Carlos"La humanización de la universidad en un mundo digitalizado" En un mundo digitalizado, la universidad, no debe quedarse al margen de los progresos de la tecnología: la enseñanza en línea, los recursos digitales, la inteligencia artificial y las aplicaciones móviles, son solo algunos ejemplos de cómo la tecnología puede ayudarnos a ofrecer experiencias de aprendizaje más efectivas, accesibles y sostenibles. Sin embargo, como entidad, cuya misión es la formación integral de los estudiantes, no tenemos que olvidarnos que la interacción humana, el debate, el compañerismo y la mentoría son aspectos fundamentales de la experiencia universitaria para fomentar el diálogo y la reflexión crítica, lograr el bienestar y la implicación estudiantil de manera que consigan aprender a lo largo de la vida. Tras una década celebrando lo que en sus inicios fueran unas jornadas, y actualmente un congreso que reúne asistentes de diversas partes del mundo, en esta edición queremos reiterar la importancia para nuestras instituciones de encontrar un equilibrio entre la pedagogía propia de los procesos formativos y el uso de la tecnología, siendo esta en todo momento una herramienta que no hará sino potenciar la experiencia educativa, y el aspecto humano de la educación. Las clases presenciales, los grupos de estudio y las tutorías personalizadas son espacios donde se construye el conocimiento de manera colaborativa y se establecen relaciones que van más allá de lo puramente académico. En conclusión, la humanización de la universidad implicará pues el uso de herramientas tecnológicas al servicio de la interacción humana, para garantizar una formación integral de los estudiantes y prepararlos para los retos del mundo globalizado actual, asumiendo los retos que implica la Agenda 2023 para el Desarrollo Sostenible.

- VII Workshop d'economia valenciana. Els nous reptes de l'economia valencianaMiralles García, José Luis; Ginés Vilar, Miguel; Burriel Calvet, RaülL'economia valenciana, dins d'un context competitiu global, requereix fer front els reptes del moment històric que vivim tot fent valdre els recursos territorials a través del teixit empresarial, institucional i acadèmic. D'aquesta forma, les accions dutes a terme en el present suposaran la creació tant de rendiments econòmics, com del desenvolupament d'un espai sostenible, que seran herència per a futures generacions. Ja l'any passat vàrem focalitzar l'activitat en dos paradigmes destacats. D'una banda, el canvi de "produir, usar i tirar" a "reduir, reutilitzar i reciclar", per tal d'establir les bases per una economia circular: un repte present cap a un entorn més sostenible. D'altra banda, la necessària `agenda digital de les empreses i organismes públics. Això suposa la implantació efectiva d'un procés de digitalització progressiu que integre l'evolució constant de les tecnologies de la informació i permeta a les empreses valencianes cotes d'eficiència i innovació majors. En aquest marc, la Indústria 4.0 tracta de combinar tècniques avançades de producció i operacions amb tecnologies intel·ligents com la robòtica, la intel·ligència artificial, les tecnologies cognitives, la nanotecnologia o la Internet of Things (IoT.). La nova política econòmica europea per la transició ecològica i la digitalització, instrumentalitzada per mitjà del fons Next Generation UE marca una nova etapa en la implementació dels nous paradigmes. Però a més a més, l'inici de la guerra en Ucraïna el passat 24 de febrer de 2022, ha generat de fet un nou marc de les relacions econòmiques internacionals i, paradoxalment, ha posat en evidència de forma dràstica i real els perills i les conseqüències de models econòmics no sostenibles. La dependència Europea de recursos energètics cada dia més escassos i procedents en una part significativa de Rússia així com la dependència daltres productes diversos originaris d'Ucraïna i Rússia ara tancats a l'intercanvi comercial ha quedat en evidència. La globalització econòmica ha passat en molt poc de temps a una economia de blocs. Al mateix temps, el canvi ha deixat en evidència les conseqüències econòmiques en una situació d'escassesa de recursos naturals. La transició cap a la sostenibilitat és cada dia més urgent. Aquesta VII edició del Workshop d'Economia Valenciana es centra en aquesta nova realitat que reclama de manera urgent una reflexió i un marc explicatiu i justificatiu de les línies d'actuació a encetar, aprofundir o consolidar. El document de les Actes que publiquen recull un conjunt d'aportacions sobre aspectes d'economia i sostenibilitat que aborden diferents aspectes dels reptes que el País Valencià necessita abordar en aquest nou marc. És el resultat del treball d'especialistes, acadèmics i investigadors que han participat en el workshop.

Rooted in local materials and traditional techniques, it reflects deep cultural and environmental awareness, aswell as the social dynamics of communities. Preserving this heritage today means not only conserving physical structures, but also transmitting their intrinsic know-how and values. Vernacular Heritage: Documentation, Conservation and Adaptive Reuse brings together multidisciplinary perspectives on how to identify, record, conserve and give new life to vernacular heritage, offering valuable insights to researchers and professionals in Architecture, Anthropology, Environmental Design and Cultural Heritage Studies.
- II Congreso Internacional sobre las Fiestas de Moros y CristianosCatalá Pérez, Daniel; Ponce Herrero, Gabino Joaquin; Martínez Pozo, Miguel ÁngelLas fiestas de moros y cristianos conforman un fenómeno socio-histórico-cultural poliédrico, cuyo análisis desde un enfoque monodimensional no lo agota en absoluto. Pero a ello se ha de sumar, además, un factor que añade más complejidad, si cabe, al fenómeno: la extensión geográfica de las fiestas de moros y cristianos por todo el mundo. Las fiestas han evolucionado de forma diferente en cada ámbito geográfico según las diferentes influencias recibidas y, por tanto, la dificultad de definir fronteras claras entre las diferentes variedades existentes y entre las propias fiestas de moros y cristianos y otras festividades o rituales festivos es, en muchas ocasiones, complicado. Pero si algo enriquece a este fenómeno es precisamente eso, el carácter propio de cada representación, aun tratándose de manifestaciones festivas cuyo motivo central es esencialmente el mismo. Es decir, la particularidad dentro de la globalidad es lo que convierte a estas fiestas en un patrimonio inmaterial invaluable para toda la humanidad. En los últimos años existe una clara preocupación por aproximarse al estudio de las fiestas de moros y cristianos desde una perspectiva internacional, mostrando así su extensión por todo el mundo. De esta forma, se han organizado eventos científicos como el Congreso Internacional sobre Embajadas (Komedya Fiesta), celebrado en 2008 en la Universidad de Filipinas-Diliman, el Congreso Internacional de Embajadas y Embajadores organizado en 2010 por la Societat de Festers de la localidad valenciana de Ontinyent (España), el I Congreso Internacional sobre las fiestas de Moros y Cristianos organizado por la Unión Nacional de Entidades Festeras (UNDEF) y la Universidad de Alicante (España) en 2016, o el I Congreso Internacional sobre los Piratas en las fiestas de Moros y Cristianos de 2018, organizado también por la Universidad de Alicante y la Comparsa de Piratas de Villena (Alicante, España). También en los últimos años se ha culminado un ambicioso proyecto impulsado por el Instituto Riva-Agüero de la Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú que ha dado como fruto la monumental obra en dos volúmenes ¿La Fiesta de moros y cristianos en el mundo¿. Esta publicación reúne las investigaciones y aportaciones de los más prestigiosos expertos internacionales en el ámbito de las manifestaciones festivas de moros y cristianos. Todos estos congresos y publicaciones han servido para dar a conocer el intenso trabajo de investigación que se está llevando a cabo por expertos de multitud de países en los que existen ejemplos de fiestas de moros y cristianos, y también para poner de manifiesto esa extensión geográfica de las fiestas a la que se ha hecho mención. Por todo ello, desde la Unión Nacional de Entidades Festeras (UNDEF), conscientes de la necesidad de abordar el estudio y análisis de las Fiestas de moros y cristianos en un contexto internacional para conseguir un verdadero enriquecimiento del área de estudio en la que se ha convertido este fenómeno, se propone ampliar definitivamente el alcance de sus congresos científicos y organizar el II Congreso Internacional sobre las Fiestas de Moros y Cristianos.

- 5th CARPE Conference HORIZON EUROPE AND BEYONDOrozco Messana, JavierCARPE, the Consortium on Applied Research and Professional Education is the first strategic alliance of a number of European universities of applied sciences. The partners aim to encourage cooperation in European research programmes and jointly develop educational programmes.They will also mutually exchange students and staff. An important point of departure in this collaboration is the link between education, research, businesses and organisations, through which knowledge acquires both social and economic value. The CARPE partners are Hamburg University of Applied Sciences, Universitat Politècnica de València, Turku University of Applied Sciences, HU University of Applied Sciences Utrecht and the University of Debrecen.
